The vignette can be bought up to 30 days before the desired activation date — it stays "unused" until then, and immediate activation is also possible. Available options are: weekend, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual — there's no 1-day option. Driving without a valid vignette carries a fine of €153.39 (300 BGN) for a car; a voluntary "compensatory charge" of €46.50 allows the offence to be settled without a formal violation report.
